Ashland KY  - - The Colts come out of the gate quickly scoring 3 runs in the top of the 1st inning sending 8 batters to the plate and scoring 3 runs on 3 hits, an error, and two walks.  The lead was short-lived as the Portsmouth 23 Bluejays quickly erased the lead by scoring 5 runs in the bottom half of the first inning. After 3 innings of play, the game was knotted at 3 for both clubs. Fortunately, the Colts were able to put up runs every inning thereafter through 6 innings of play before the game was called due to the time limit. 

Starting pitcher Roman Long kept working through some sloppy defense as the Colts have 3 errors on the day. Long gives up 2 earned runs on 7 hits, walks none and get 3 strikeouts in his first start of the summer on the bump. Reliever Ryan Schwartz works 2.2 innings of one-hit baseball but walks three and gives up one earned run. Closer Lucas Foglesgong works 0.1 innings and throws 2 pitches to close the door on the Bluejays.

At the plate, the Colts continue to hit the baseball ending the game with 11 hits on the day. Leadoff hitter Lane Larson sets the tone for the Colts as he belts out 3 hits (2B), scores 3 runs and has one RBI on the game. Cole Ratcliff had a hit and 4 RBIs, Kole Williams drives in 2 RBIs,  Daniel Haller (H, RBI), Bryce McWhorter (H, RBI), Ryan Schwartz (2H) and Carter Glandon (H) all contribute at the plate for the Colts in the win. 

The Colts continue tournament play with the following scheduled games: 

  • Saturday 5:30 pm v Ashland Post 76

Sunday will be a championship round with games at 10 am, 12:30 pm, and 3 pm. Times to be determined by seeding and performance!

Ashland KY  - - Starting pitcher Ray Sugar Bone Byers throws the complete game in the opening game of the Ashland Post 76 Fourth of July Tourney. Byers gives up 3 runs while scattering 10 hits in the 6 inning mercy run game. Byers proves to be very efficient on the mound for the Colts throwing only 79 pitches, walking none, and striking out 2 Hounds in the game. Defensively the Colts had zero errors in the game.

Offensively the Colts stepped up with 16 hits led by Kody Haubeil who collects 3 RBIs on the day with an RBI single and a 2 run blast later in the game. Roman Long has 4 hits and 2 RBIs while Emmitt Cunningham adds 2 singles, a triple, and 2 RBIs for the Colts. Multiple other Colts players did damage at the plate including Cole Ratcliff (2H, 2 RBIs), Daniel Haller (2 H, RBI), Lane Larson (H, RBI), Carter Glandon (H) and Lucas Foglesong (H). 

The Colts continue tournament play with the following scheduled games: 

  • Friday 12:30 pm v South Charleston
  • Saturday 12:30 pm v Portsmouth 23
  • Saturday 5:30 pm v Ashland Post 76

Sunday will be a championship round with games at 10 am, 12:30 pm, and 3 pm. Times to be determined by seeding and performance!

Hillsboro OH - - The Colts starting pitcher Nick Salyer takes a tough loss in the championship game as Portsmouth Post 23 scores three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to beat the Colts 3-1. The Colts make a little noise in the seventh inning to make things interesting but strand baserunners to lose to a very good Portsmouth Post 23 team in the championship game. The Colts managed to muster seven hits in the loss but can’t string anything together until the last inning. Salyer helps himself at the plate with two hits. Bryce McWhorter (RBI), Lucas Foglesong (2 H), Daniel Haller (H),  Drew Seymour (H), and DC Dailey (H) contribute offensively in the loss.

The Colts get right back into league play Tuesday, June 23rd as they visit Waverly 142 at Piketon HS with the first pitch scheduled for 6 pm.

Hillsboro OH - - Lucas Foglesong throws a complete game shutout to open up Sunday play in the 2020 Hillsboro Wood Bat Tournament. Foglesong scatters 5 hits, walks one and strikes out 9 batters in the mercy-rule shortened six-inning game at Shaffer Park. The Colts provide more than enough offensive support for Foglesong as the team collects 16 hits in the game with eleven Colts players getting in on the action. The Colts offense had five players with multiple hits including Carter Glandon (2H, RBI), Lucas Foglesong (2H, 2 RBI), Kole Williams (2H, RBI), Drew Seymour (2H) and Lane Larson (2 H, RBI). Also contributing RBI hits were Emmitt Cunningham (H, 3 RBIs), Bryce McWhorter (H, 2 RBIs), and Cole Ratcliff.  Zane Joseph (H), Daniel Haller (H), and Ryan Schwartz (H) also delivered at the plate for the Colts in the Sunday blowout.

The Colts continue Hillsboro Wood Bat Tournament play in the Championship game at 3 pm.

Hillsboro OH - - The Colts come back scoring four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to knock off the Troy Bombers in Hillsboro Wood Bat Tournament play.  Down 2-1 going into the bottom of the sixth inning Nick Salyer doubles in two runs to give the Colts their first lead of the game. Starting pitcher Ryan Schwartz works four innings on the bump allowing five hits and one run while striking out five. Bryce McWhorter works 2 innings of relief to get the win. McWhorter allows one run on three hits while striking out three Troy batters. Roman Long gets the save working the seventh inning of the ballgame. 

Along with Salyer, Daniel Haller comes up big for the Colts at the plate with two hits (1B, 2B) along with 2 RBIs. Cole Ratcliff (H, RBI), Roman Long (2B), Drew Seymour (H) and DC Dailey (H) all contribute at the plate for the Colts. 

The Colts (7-2) continue the Hillsboro Wood Bat Tournament tomorrow against Waverly, first pitch at 10 am.

Colts Split with Hillsboro 129 Renegades

Chillicothe, OH - - Hoffman Field at Mary Lou Patton Park

Game 1, final 12-8 loss. The Colts belt out 17 hits but struggle again fielding the baseball! Lucas Foglesong has another good outing in the no-decision as he works 4 innings with 6 strikeouts but also gives up 5 earned runs. Foglesong helps himself quite a bit at the plate as he has 4 hits, 2 RBIs, and 2 runs scored. Nick Salyer’s bat is starting to heat up as he drops his first bomb of the summer along with two other hits and 3 RBIs in the league loss. Other contributors to the Colts offense include Bryce McWhorter (3 hits, RBI), Emmitt Cunningham (2 hits, RBI) as well as Drew Seymour, Roman Long, and Daniel Haller (hit, RBI). 

Reliever Bryce McWhorter works 3 innings and gives up only 1 earned run with no walks and a strikeout. The Colts defense gives up 6 unearned runs in the game in the loss. 

Game 2, final  12-2 win, 6 innings. The Colts bounce back in game 2 as Jaden McNish delivers 4 hits in the mercy-run 6 inning game. McNish belts out 3 doubles and 2 RBIs to give starter Kyle Wingo plenty of run support. Wingo goes 3.1 innings and strikes outs 2 batters in the start. Relievers Drew Seymour, Roman Long, and McNish work 2.2 innings of relief giving up 2 hits and no runs to shut the door on the Renegades. Offensively the bats continue producing in the second game as the Colts belt out 12 hits and the defense makes significant improvements with only 1 error! Centerfielder Emmitt Cunningham collects two hits and 2 RBIs. Catcher Carter Glandon adds a hit and an RBI for the Colts and continues to do an excellent job this summer behind the dish while leadoff hitter Foglesong continues to produce with a 3 RBI triple. Several others contributed at the plate with RBI singles including Cole Ratcliff, Sugar Ray Bone Byers, Zane Joseph, and Lane Larson. 

The Colts jump into tournament play this week as we head to the Hillsboro Wood Bat Tournament at Shaffer Park with the opening game Friday morning at 10 am.

Portsmouth, OH - - YOUR Chillicothe 757 Colts sweep a very good Portsmouth 23 Blue Jays team opening up league play in the South Central Ohio League. 

Game 1, final 8-4: Despite allowing three runs in the bottom of the 7th inning the Colts hold on for an 8-4 victory in game one. Nick Salyer earns his first win of the summer on the mound after pitching four innings, allowing four hits, no runs along with four strikeouts. Defensively the Colts got it done in game one having zero errors (but one badly misplayed ball!!) and provided plenty of offensive support to Salyer along with Cole Ratcliff and Zane Joseph in relief. Offensively the Colts had multiple RBI hits from Emmitt Cunningham (2) and Ryan Schwartz (2). Cole Ratcliff, Salyer, Lucas Foglesong, and Drew Seymour also contributed RBI hits for the Colts

Game 2, final 2-1: The Colts grab the lead in the sixth inning after tying up the game 1-1 in the fifth. Offensively the Colts were lead by Daniel Haller who had three hits. Ryan Schwartz and Sugar Ray Bone Byer each had RBI hits for the Colts. Other contributors at the plate included Bryce McWhorter and Carter Glandon both with hits in game two. On the mound, Kyle Wingo gives the Colts four innings of one-hit baseball along with seven Ks and one earned run. Lucas Foglesong worked three innings of no-hit baseball along with four Ks to get the win after the Colts take the lead in the 6th inning. 

The Colts continue SCOL play Wednesday at Hoffman Field where they will host the Hillsboro 129 Renegades for a 6 pm twin bill.

Chillicothe OH - - YOUR Chillicothe 757 Colts continued some sloppy play in the second game of the season falling behind 8-2 after the first five innings of play. Fortunately, the Colts were able to string together multiple hits in the bottom of the 6th inning to make it a tie game heading into the 7th inning.  The big 2-run blast off by Emmitt Cunningham’s bat on the 0-2 count scoring both Daniel Haller and Cunningham to give the Colts a 10-8 victory over a very good Dayton Classics club. 

The Colts earned the victory despite allowing the Dayton Classics to score five runs in the top of the 5th inning. The Colts tied up the game at 8 in the bottom of the 6th inning with Kyle Wingo's double to score 2 runs. The 6th inning proved to be a productive one as the Colts scored six runs total with Drew Seymour, Cole Ratcliff and DC Dailey driving in runs before Wingo’s double.

On the bump, the Colts were able to get an early look at several arms with Daniel Haller, Bryce McWhorter, Nick Salyer, Lucas Foglesong, Cole Ratcliff, Roman Long, Drew Seymour, and Ryan Schwartz all getting an inning of work. 

The Colts open up league play Sunday at Branch Rickey Field as they square off with the Portsmouth 23 Blue Jays for a 2 pm DH.
